How to play Kakuro

  1. Read each clue as a set of possible digit combinations, not a sum to add up — the run length and the target narrow it fast.
  2. Place the "forced" runs first: clues with a single possible combination (like 3 over two cells, or 17 over two) give you certain digits.
  3. Follow the crossings — a digit fixed in an across run constrains the down run it sits in, and vice versa — to chain placements across the grid.
  4. Use the combination hints and the Hint button when you are stuck, then Check to confirm; sign in to save progress and download a printable PDF.
